At GAMA Expo, Wizards of the Coast shared an important update: the Wizards Play Network (WPN) is evolving.
Local game stores are where play comes to life—where players meet, friendships form, and communities grow over time. This WPN evolution is aimed at better supporting the work retailers do every day, while giving stores clearer recognition and more useful tools to grow.
Why WPN Is Evolving
Wizards has been listening closely to retailers: running a store is hard, and success isn’t just about raw attendance. Community-focused stores want:
-
clearer recognition for what they’re building,
-
better insight into what’s working,
-
and tools that connect digital engagement with in-store play.
This evolution is designed to respond to those needs while keeping the focus where it belongs: growing strong, healthy local communities.
What’s Changing
At a high level, the evolution centers on three connected ideas:
1) Better Tools
A new WPN dashboard will replace the current store profile metrics page, giving retailers clearer visibility into community health and more actionable insights for growth.
2) A Clearer Metrics Framework
Tickets will still matter, but they won’t stand alone. Additional metrics will be introduced to provide a more holistic view of store performance, including:
-
event variety
-
on-time scheduling
-
new player growth
-
customer review ratings
3) Clear Progression and More Meaningful Benefits
Wizards is testing a tiered progression model (Entry Tier and Tiers 1–6) that:
-
evaluates stores quarterly,
-
rewards consistency over time,
-
and supports different community styles—so stores can grow in ways that match how they serve their players.
Benefits are being designed to scale with progression, and because this is being developed through beta, details may refine based on retailer feedback.
Beta Phase and Timeline
The evolution begins with a beta period launching now. Participating retailers will get early access to the dashboard and metrics framework, and their feedback will help shape the final experience ahead of a broader rollout targeted for late 2026.
Retailers can review the full overview and register interest in beta participation through the official WPN article (and application form) on the WPN site.
What This Means for Retailers in the Philippines
For most stores, the immediate takeaway is simple: WPN is moving toward a clearer, more complete picture of store health—beyond just attendance.
If you have detailed questions about scoring mechanics, tier placement, or benefit specifics, Wizards is directing retailers to the Retailer Success Hub for the most current information.
